Well, given the fact that Ohio is an at-fault state it’s necessary that the culpable party or the person that did hit you has insurance. The majority of times, or a good amount of times, people don’t carry auto insurance as they are required to do. That’s why I would strongly recommend getting extra coverage, IE uninsured motorist protection, in your policy. That way you do have coverage should you be struck by an uninsured driver. In short, the uninsured driver gets off scot-free. They don’t have insurance. Hopefully you can tap into your own policy should you have insured motor’s coverage.
A third alternative, which is the least likely to prevail, is something called victims of crime. You would pursue that through Hamilton County or whatever county the accident occurs in. You would pursue that through the court system there.
